School in Iran
In 2011, as part of my MA in painting, I took an anatomy course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. The course was about monsters' anatomy in the history of art. As part of that course, we had the assignment to design a monster character. My very first image of a monster was the staff at my school when I was a little girl in Iran! So I illustrated some of my experiences with them; Being punished for wearing a pair of red shoes because wearing anything colorful was forbidden in schools, or cutting a little girl's hair because it was not completely covered by her scarf! For me, the school in Iran was a place without a trace of joy, color, and happiness.
